Where to mount Scottoiler on Trophy?

marvin
Greetings all!

Just purchased a 1997 Trophy this summer.  It's in beautiful cosmetic condition but needed a little TLC mechanically.  Cleaned and synchronized the carbs and now she purrs (like a diesel truck).  I'm currently replacing the chain, sprockets, and rear brake pads and decided to go ahead and add a vacuum Scottoiler.  No issues getting vacuum off the carbs but trying to decide where to mount the oiler (RMV) on the bike.  I'm sure some of you are running Scottoilers so I thought I'd ask for recommendations.

 Thanks in advance!

I got mine with the high capacity “touring” reservoir. I removed the license plate, mounted the Scottoilers to the rear fender, made a mounting plate out of hard plastic, painted it, and mounted the license plate to it. Been working like a champ for something like 16 years.

Hi Marvin, I've got the same setup as Bud. My chains last 30K miles. Consider the dual injector. http://www.twistedthrottle.com/scottoiler-dual-injector-chain-lubricant-dispenser-accessory http://www.twistedthrottle.com/scottoiler-dual-injector-chain-lubricant-dispenser-accessory

I couldn't find the touring reservoir listing.

Hi Marvin,

I use the normal capacity RMV Scottoiler with the Twin Injector.
I've mounted it in front of my left Shin, on a convenient bolt which secures the Fair Inner Panel - see photo attached. Pay no attention to the Clutch Hose which I have re-routed, away from the original routing, as my preferred option..
I much prefer this position as I can turn the S/O On and Off when required i.e. when it's raining, otherwise, even on the lowest setting, there is just too much Chain Lube Splatter on the rear of the bike for my liking..

Whichever siting your decide upon, remember to keep the Injector Nibs clear of dirt and debris - otherwise the thing won't work as well

Thanks so much for the feedback guys!  I really appreciate it.  I see a couple of you have mounted your Scottoilers pretty close to the engine.  The heat hasn't affected it at all?  I like the idea of mounting it along side the engine as it's easy to access and keeps the vacuum line short but worry about heat.

 Thanks,

It's not caused any problems from being close to the engine so far and the viscosity of the oil will be more constant as less affected by ambient conditions

Re: Where to mount Scottoiler on Trophy? [2 Attachments]

marvin
Finally got my Scottoiler installed a couple weekends ago.  Sorry I didn't get around to replying until now.  I ended up drilling and tapping the swing arm to mount the oiler nozzle and then mounted the reservoir zip tied to an oil line on the right side of the engine.  I was afraid the heat might affect it but it has been working great for a few hundred miles now!

I've attached a couple picture so you can see how I mounted it.
