Staintunes or Delkevic's

Triumph Trophy mailing list
Hi folks,

Does anyone have a set of Staintune or Delkevic mufflers and mid pipes they would like to send away for a reasonable price? My research shows that most people find the D&D's just too loud.

My mufflers have been getting louder over the years and did sound OK for a long time. Now, though, they just sound bad. They are not rusted out or anything, but the perforated inner pipe/baffle can rotate freely in the right one, but not the left. I'm thinking this may be the uneven buzzing noise that recently started. If they had packing in them I'm pretty sure it is all or mostly gone now.

 Thanks,
 Glenn

Hi djacarr,

Thanks for the tip. I'll look it up - never too old to learn something! I re-read my original post and I see I have led you astray. My mufflers are the original Triumph ones that came on her new. I mentioned the D&D being loud because I didn't think I would want them instead of the Staintune or Delkevic. Sorry about that.

On another note, why can everybody else include the quoted post in their reply and I cannot figure out how to??? Grrrrr.

 Cheers,
 Glenn

Are you posting from the website or an email client on your computer?

Hi Glenn,  There is nice set on Ebay right now. $166 plus shipping puts it close to $200. Some minor scratches but they should rub out with 1000 or 1500 grit wet/dry sandpaper.
 http://www.ebay.com/itm/02-Triumph-Trophy-Muffler-Exhaust-Set-left-right-Minor-Damage-/182568511512?hash=item2a81ee6818:g:4WUAAOSwfRdZExKr&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/02-Triumph-Trophy-Muffler-Exhaust-Set-left-right-Minor-Damage-/182568511512?hash=item2a81ee6818:g:4WUAAOSwfRdZExKr&vxp=mtr

I have a set of Staintune I'd sell, but it would $250 plus shipping. Staintune comes in two types. A road version which is slightly louder that stock and an off road version that is quite a bit louder than stock. My are the road version. The off road version has an extra 2 or 3 inch pipe on the end. My Staintunes has a few small dings about the size of a quarter and dime. I can send pictures off line if interested.

Ah ok, Glenn. Yes, I thought you were referring to the D&Ds. I don't think any of the Triumph OEM silencers/mufflers can be repacked - maybe the early Daytona ones?
I have OEM Triumph silencers on my Mk1 1200, and I have been complemented on how nice they sound... I would love to get some Staintunes, ever since I saw/heard some on another Mk1 1200 a few years back. They sounded really good - throaty but not obnoxiously loud.
Have you checked the entire exhaust system? Including the balance pipe under the engine?

Cheers
David

Hi Greg,

Thanks for the link. I think I'm more interested in the Delkevic or Staintune than stock at this stage. Thank you for your offer, too. Let me think on that for a wee bit. I'll let you know soon.

Glenn; From the web site click on 'reply' and a new window will open. At the bottom of that window there is a line that says "show message history" and if you click on that it shows the quote of the message you are replying to. Just write above it and you are golden. Hope this helps!

Well, how about that. Thanks Ed!!!!!! I wrote a reply to you a little while ago, but it failed to appear. Anyway, such a simple solution to a frustrating (to me) problem. Now let's see if this reply gets posted.

Hi folks,

I just got a great set of Delkevic's and have them installed. Happier than a pig in poop with them.

The only negative was UPS. They charged all they could for shipping instead of advising the lower cost options they had available. All the tax, out of area fee (good one, their warehouse is FIVE miles from our house!), tax on out of area fee, broker fee, tax on broker fee, fuel surcharge, ground shipping, tax on ground shipping came to FOUR times what their online estimate was. Giving a little advice could have cut the cost in half.

It will be a cold day in hell before UPS will ever get another cent of mine!

 Cheers,
 Glenn

I've had the Delkevic Carbon Fiber 18" installed over a year now. Absolutely love them.

No, they don't get the luggage hot either.

I run mine mostly without baffles now.

On a happier note the Delkevics are great cans! glad you are enjoying them!

  Hi Gang;
Looking for an inexpensive [damaged] 11 hole windscreen to make a
partial "summer screen" for my '01 Trophy! Condition is not important as
long as it's intact on the lower half above the bolt holes by about 2"
or so.  Also needs to be stateside and near Florida.
