Thank you for recounting your experience of the Trophy problem with wind roar and summarising your attempts to overcome the issue.
 I don’t know the make of my screen but it measures 480mm (18”) which I think is the same as a Flowrider and bigger than both a Nuevo or an MRA. I believe the Clearview measures 636mm so is much bigger than my current screen but I’m concerned that it would ruin the looks of the machine which would be so painful for me to do!

I have tried spacers under the bottom edge of the screen to reduce the negative pressure on the underside but to no avail so am stuck with the option of needing earplugs at anything over 40mpg and still suffering discomfort at 70 or fitting a taller screen and altering the style of the machine.

Could I ask you to post a side view of your bike and give me a total screen length for comparison?
The biking season has not started for me yet here in Buckinghamshire yet but must be just days away now I hope.

 Given that
 you're in the UK, some of the options that I describe
 may be less available to you, but hopefully there are
 similar options available.
 I found that the stock windscreen
 appears to be designed for a more sport-oriented riding
 position, maybe utilizing lower-rise clip-ons.  If this
 assumption is correct, then the factory may have later
 decided on a more touring-oriented riding position after the
 fairing and windscreen design had been finalized.  This is
 just a guess.  I note that photos of 1995 Trophies appear
 to have the same bars as 1996+ Trophies, but Daytona photos
 give the appearance that they might mount their bars below
 the plate instead of above the plate.
 For me, riding at highway speeds
 resulted in the roar that you described, along with some
 degree of bobble-head.  I addressed the roar by wearing
 ear-plugs adding a Windjammer Cycle Helmet Wind Blocker to
 my helmet, and using ear-plug wax to further fair my helmet
 seams.  It wasn't pretty, but it helped.  My Helmet at
 the time was an HJC CL-16, which isn't known for being a
 quiet helmet.  I addressed the bobble-head by ducking down
 below the windscreen's turbulence area.  This was
 uncomfortable over long distances.
 If I remember correctly, one of our
 members glued a split piece of vacuum tubing to the top edge
 of the windscreen.  He posted photos at one time, but
 they're not on the wiki. This tubing added an additional
 element of turbulence to the airflow, changing the
 windscreen's aerodynamic profile in a way that
 reportedly helped.
 Many of us have added spacers to
 further raise the seating position, making the stock
 windscreen even less effective.
 I purchased a ClearView XL with +2
 inches (5cm) wider than stock windscreen with PRV vents. 
 With this in-place, I was able to switch to a different
 helmet and not require ear-plugs for most riding.  I need
 to either keep the top vents on my helmet closed at highway
 speeds or to wear ear plugs.
 At roughly the same time I installed
 the ClearView XL, my commute changed substantially, adding an
 extra 10 miles of superslab with 65mph++ speeds
 possible vs. lower speeds on my previous
 commute. 
 My thoughts on the ClearView
 XL...
 The ClearView XL
 windscreen begins with the original windscreen design and
 extends it upwards by 7.5" (19cm).  The top of the
 windscreen is also more flat than the stock Trophy
 screen's curve.
 Wind-protection is good. and is much
 more comfortable at higher speeds.  The wind hits the top
 of my helmet, but doesn't result in bobble-head, even
 with risers mounted to improve my seating position. Fuel
 economy went down in my commute from 36mpg to 33mpg, but the
 change to my commute may have been a factor.  If I were to
 do it over again, I might try a normal width screen.  I
 like the XL height, but I find that the design might be
 better if the manufacturer had brought the screen
 further back towards the rider before
 sweeping upward.  I've seen some other windscreen
 models that appear to follow this design.  I think this
 would improve the helmet noise issue.

 It sounds like you have a real gem there, does it look as
 good as the low mileage suggests? You’re getting through
 the mechanicals there but did you not have to do the carbs?
 Mine had a combination of leaking carb and faulty fuel tap
 seals just after I had refuelled and done a silicone oil
 change. It dumped all the fuel into the cylinders and onto
 the floor! I was not impressed.
 
 Mine is a 1994 with 21K miles, I had to do the dreaded sprag
 clutch and it doesn’t have the inspection cover for
 access, I don’t mind the side wind but hate the head wind
 roar, tried different screens but cannot cure it.

  only dislike is the side winds issue . Mpg is 35 to 40
 
  depending on riding style.  When I first got the bike
 it
 
  was doing 32mpg(Imperial not USA). The only thing left to
 do
 
  is replace the broken petcock handle...( there will be
 other
 
  things that need doing, ie chain sprockets and spark

Hello Ivor...
You may want to try a Product called Micro-Swirl Edging made by SAENG (
https://saeng.com/product/gen-4-edging/)
I have used it on my '96 BBB for years.  I'm sure that the variables of
screen height and rider height will affect results -  but could work for
you.
