Oil in carbs

jimandersson
Hey!
Overfilled oil and got it into carbs. Broke a seal? Which one?
Cleaning the carbs and changing filter and plugs, Do I dare to restart? Or do I have to change the seal (wherever it is) ?

If the oil is high enough to get into the carbs, you have a problem with
fuel tap or a float or both.

Is  it the oil from the airbox that is getting into the carbs ? Part of the emissions ,, Maybe time clean out the air box and change the filter.

Re: Oil in carbs

Jim Miles
Pretty sure I remember it having an airbox drain tube which can be
problematic. Check to make sure it’s not clogged.

if you overfill with oil , the engine usually chucks out oil through the engine breather, this is situated on the top cam cover , this breather pipe is then connected to the airbox . This is more likely cause of oil in the inlet system.  Do not run the bike, drain excess oil first.

no worries, the crankcase breather connects to the airbox (its a hose about the diameter of your thumb) when running oil fumes (sometimes oil spray when overfilled) are fed to the engine for combustion.  simply lowering the oil level and wiping up any pools of oil in the airbox is all you need to do.
