New Exhausts found - sort of

Triumph Trophy mailing list
I've only had one kind of luck finding a new exhaust (bad luck), so I asked Motad - who manufactured them for Triumph back in the day.

Motad say they aren't planning to make any more so I asked asked how many exhausts I would have to buy to twist their arm into making some - This is the email I got back

 "Hi Steve,
For an order of 10 you would be looking at a 4 to 6 week lead time.
Price would be £250.00 per pair + vat and we would need a 30% deposit."

So - all I need now is 9 people who want a sparkling new pair of exhausts.

Re: New Exhausts found - sort of

Interesting concept!

I suggest this might be complicated by needing these ten people to be in the same continent!

I bought Delkevick at about that price because they were available, and more cost effective than the originals.

If I could have had an OEM set available for the same cost  would have been interested.

Hi, I'm Giovanni Polegato from Italy. If the pair of exhaust is the chrome
version just fit on my 1200 Trophy 1991, I'm looking to buying.
Let me know please.

Best regards

That's not bad. Why not ask Sprint Manufacturing if they would fund on that basis? They might be interested. I would have off I had not recently got a good second hand pair.

I would assume that it would need to be 10 of the same type?

I just re-read your Message Ken

You said ask Sprint Manufacturing? Am I right in thinking Sprint make an exhaust already which fits the Triumph but it doesn't look OE - which is why I don't want it. Part of the fun of my bike is people wandering up and saying
"nice bike, didn't know they still made those"
 and I say
"they don't it's 16 years old" and watch their faces. Priceless.

You're right Ken!

Does anyone know how I could find out how many late model Triumph Trophies are still driving about?

Perhaps I could persuade Motad to make 10 pairs and just sell me just the one. I would just have to make the case that there are X number of Trophies and Y number need exhausts sometime soon

Might the moderator of this site allow, say, a "Motad file" or something so that every new member to the forum knows where to buy their new exhausts

I ruled out buying 10 pairs myself and retailing the 9 pairs - if Motad don't think they can make money with them - maybe there isn't a market. I would have enough to last 150 years motorcycling.

Hi Bob, I'm looking for the 2 rails that hold the 1200 carbs together. Ed said you might have some extras. Thanks,

Have you considered the Delkevic SS or carbon fiber exhaust system?  You
will get an all SS muffler which is much lighter, made to fit your bike and
beautiful sound, not too loud especially with the restrictor installed for
less money than stock.  Search eBay.
