Fairing removal

Triumph Trophy mailing list
I have found that I don't need to remove the inner sections of the fairings, they can be maneuvered off the bike as is. I discovered this after the first service on the bike when it came back from the stealer with damaged tabs and a gouge. A little patience and a sensitive hand will do the job so those tabs have never been removed since (80,000 km). The chin piece and lower fairing still have to be removed.
This same stealer sold me the bike (new) with finger tight front axle clamp bolts and when asked to check the bike over at the first (and last) service assured me everything was OK - the silencer fell off on the way home!!

Hey Bill,
Your tale of woe cracked me up. I had exactly the same thing happen on the way home from Long Beach Harley-Davidson (no longer in existence!). I luckily had the rear muffler on my ’73 Superglide. I had no tools with me, and a city cop pulled up and was giving me a bad time about my temp. paper plate, when eight or ten Bikers pulled up behind me, and shut down. One guy yells out,"This asshole giving you a bad time Brother?" The officer left, and several guys with tools tightened down scary parts, to get me home. I didn’t have this problem at the shop I bought my new ’95 BBBB-BRG?
 Kindest regards,
   Poppa Jack

I agree.  I removed my fairings for my 18K service yesterday.
1. Lower fairing.2. 1 screw from the under-nose fairing (left or right, doesn't matter)3. screws between left/right fairing and nose fairing4. Torx screws between left/right fairing and side dashboard5. 4 screws holding the left/right fairing onto the bike.6. Slide forward and remove.  Leave the inner fairings in-place.
