Bad Regulator 1996 900 Trophy -

Triumph Trophy mailing list
Well my clutch problems are ironed out but my voltage regulator seems to be bad.  I checked it with the info I got from my Haynes manual and it looks like it is shot.  What I am not sure on is if I should order a 25 amp or a 40 amp regulator.  My vin last 5 numbers are 34713.  Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.  Steve R.

Steve, from the number I take it is black rather than a grey engine. If it's 1200 then it is 40 amp. If it's a 900 I can't be sure. I only know that because I had a 97 with 25 amp alternator. I then bought the new model in 99 and one of the notable improvements over my old one was the 40 amp alternator. However it is a 1200. A triumph dealer would know for sure from your vin
